Plymouth has a very special place in American History. Colonists from England took the Mayflower across the Atlantic Ocean and settled at Plymouth in 1620. The first Thanksgiving feast was held at the new colony of Plymouth in 1621. As the oldest town in the country, Plymouth is sometimes referred to as "America's Home Town." Despite this early excitement, Plymouth remained a fairly quiet town for much of its history. Shipbuilding, fishing, and cordage have been Plymouth's chief industries.

Today, Plymouth is home to roughly 60,000 people. This Southern Massachusetts port doesn't see a lot of shipbuilding these days, but tourism is alive and well. Every year, thousands of people flock to Plymouth to see Plymouth Rock, the Mayflower II, and the location of the first Pilgrim settlement. Pilgrim Hall Museum, located just a few blocks from Captain John Whale Watching & Fishing Tours, is the oldest museum in the country.
