FAQs for First-Time Deep Sea Fishers
Heading out on your first deep-sea fishing trip can be exciting, but you’re also likely to have a lot of questions about what to expect. When you’re on board, don’t hesitate to speak up if you’re unsure about something. The captain and crew are experienced and expect guests to have some questions about the experience. They’re there to ensure that you have a great fishing trip, so always ask for help when you need it. Here are the answers to some questions that first-timers frequently have when they head out for their first fishing trip.
What should I bring?
In most cases, you shouldn’t bring much of anything with you on the boat. The boat has a galley stocked with food and drinks, so you won’t need a cooler. Bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and a sweatshirt you can put on if you get cold. Fishing gear can be rented on the boat, and bait is provided. Bringing your own alcohol on board is prohibited, but you will be able to purchase it from the galley.
How long is the excursion?
That depends on the length of the trip you booked. Deep-sea fishing trips can be as short as four hours or as long as 14, depending on your preferences. The length of the trip will determine where you go to fish. No matter how long your trip is planned to be, plan on arriving early. Seats on board are first come, first serve, so arriving early will give you plenty of time to get settled and grab the seat you want.
Can I keep the fish I catch?
Yes, any fish that fall within the legal size limit can be brought home. We can clean them for you on board for free. Our crew members will also fillet them for you for a small fee, so that they are ready to cook when you arrive home.
